We have put together a beautiful 3-day tour to Nieuwoudtville and its surroundings at the end of August. If all the stars align we should be in for a great flower spectacle
Each year the wildflowers appear and peak in August and September. The locals have proudly dubbed Nieuwoudtville “the bulb capital of the world”, and they aren’t kidding. There are bulbs everywhere – in gardens, farmyards and fields, along the roadsides and hidden in every nook and cranny. It’s the largest variety of indigenous bulbous plants in the world and an annual flower bonanza.

We leave from KTM Paarl on Friday morning heading towards Clanwilliam
The route we selected is a combination of dirt and tar to Clanwilliam. The route takes us via Alexandershoek, Wittekloof Pass and Kransvleikloof Pass to Clanwilliam. After a refuel in Clanwilliam, we ride the beautiful Pakhuispass to Traveler’s Rest where we will stop for a quick lunch.
After lunch, we head towards Nieuwoudville on a scenic route up Botterkloof pass. Our plan is to arrive around 15:30 in Nieuwoudtville giving you some time to settle in and relax.
The evening will be festive around the campfire with lots of stories and laughter
After breakfast, we take you on a beautiful loop of around 200km. Besides a great flower spectacle, we will also take you to places like the Quiver tree forest, Die Hel se pad, Bagdad Cafe and much more.
On Sunday after breakfast, we sadly make our way back to Cape Town.
We have teamed up with Henk van Niekerk and his Zulu Overland team to set up a beautiful camp for us in Nieuwoudville. We will be staying at the camp for the duration of this tour.
Accommodation will be in tents with pallet beds and white linen. Henk and his team are no strangers on our tours and is known for great food and an awesome campfire vibe. You are definitely in for a treat!!
